「海へ行く」の表現

前のブログでも取り上げたネタですが、日本人は「海へ行く」という言い方をよくするので、

go to the sea

という表現をしがちです。しかし、英語的には


go to the beach
または
swim in the sea
なんです。

すると、今回はこんなコメントが入りました。前後の文脈はありません。米人です。

Did you swim in the sea?「海で泳ぎましたか」

This is perfectly fine, but I personally prefer “ocean”. Or, I might say “Did you go swimming at the beach?”

さあ、日本人にはgo swimming at the beachという表現がさっと出てくるでしょうか。簡単な単語ですが、奥が深いですね。
